Status Update

As I mentioned to Mike a couple days ago, lately I either don’t have the time to blog or enough will to make the time - I’m not sure which.
On the home front, we’ve been busy preparing house and mind for the arrival of the twins. (One thing we have to do soon is to […]

So what’s new?

I haven’t done much blogging lately, either here or over on my domain. Mostly it’s because I’ve been busy… but it’s also in part because, after almost of year of trying out this whole blogging thing, I find that most of the time, I’d rather be coding, or scripting, or playing a game, or reading. […]

You see? This is why I want a server-based weblog tool.

Good thing I have one (clue: you’re looking at it). Now if I could host it on my own domain, life would be peachy.
My laptop is tucked safely away in its bag and, since I decided not to work from home tonight, that’s where it will stay. Last month, that might have kept me from […]

The other white meat

I just noticed a new post over on the the metaBlog News site. It seems that Bryan is still moving forward with development. Cheers!
Meanwhile, here in the land of dotnetweblogs, ScottW continues to put the polish on his own creation. He recent added support for PingBacks and it looks like Trackbacks won’t be far behind. […]

Joke of the Day

Well, I turned off Radio earlier since it was taking up too many resources so I think I’ll just post this here instead.
In the men’s room at work, the Boss had placed a sign directly above the sink. It had a single word on it–”Think!”
The next day, when he went The next day, when he […]

Still here

Hello loyal reader.
I just wanted to drop a quick note to let everyone know that I’m still here and that everything is going well on the home front. Work, on the other hand, has gotten significantly more busy since the middle of last week when I got a new project (or 2 or […]

Checklist

From Scott - Here is what changed/updated (and has been posted):

Reworked user interaction through the admin section. No more “Save” and “Add New”. It should now just be “Post/Add” and “Update”. Check and hallelujah!
Posting of data should always result in a clear form when complete Yep.
Contact requests you be forwared to the correct […]

Upgrade complete

According to Scott, the code base has been upgraded… and indeed it has! Excellent! Congratulations, Scott. Keep up the good work. More feedback to follow (probably tomorrow).

Hanging loose

Just hanging out and waiting to check out the updates uploaded in the next compile.

I just can’t leave well enough alone

Quickie suggestion: have the weblog’s title show up in the <title> tags of the generated HTML.

Ok, that’s enough for now

Can you tell that I’m largely responsible for QA? There are plenty of other comments and suggestions to be made but it’s time to get some work done.
Again, a hearty thanks to Scott for opening this up and letting me comment. Hopefully he realizes these comments for what they are - helpful suggestions from an […]

That was (somewhat) odd

Apparently if you are editing a post and click “Add New”, it will text the text currently in the edit window and make a new post of it but if you just click “Save”, it will update whatever post it thinks your editing.
Boy, am I glad I clicked “Add New” when I posted “First thoughts” […]

Second thoughts

When I come to the Edit Weblog interface, there are no posts listed that I can edit. I first have to click a day on the calendar to list the posts for that day. It would be helpful if the default, initial few would display that last X most recent posts.
Ok, I know I just […]

First thoughts

You’ll notice that “The Grand Experiment” is posted twice. Although I could delete the second entry, I’ve left it into illustrate a point. More on that in a couple minutes.
Certain things that happen here will be simple learning curve issues and won’t warrant commentary. Others are real head-scratchers and make you go “Hmm.”
First, a little […]

The Grand Experiment

So here we go with the first post on the ASPNetWebLog-powered site. Thanks again to Scott Watermasysk for setting me up.
As an ASP.OLD developer who wants needs an excuse to play with ASP.NET code that does more than just print out “Hello World”, I’m looking forward to someday moving this weblog over to a platform […]
